Privacy Policy
Last updated October 5, 2026. I wrote this myself, in plain language, because a privacy page should tell you what actually happens here.
Who I am
Body & Rhythm is a personal blog owned and written by Jasmine. When this policy says “I”, that is me. The site is hosted on WordPress.com, which is run by Automattic. They handle the servers. I handle the writing and the choices about what gets collected on top of that.
What you give me on purpose
If you leave a comment, I keep the name, email address, and website you type in, along with the comment itself and the time you posted it. The email is not published. It is there so I can reply, and so WordPress can recognize you if you comment again.
If you use the contact page, I receive whatever you send: your name, your email, and your message. I read it. I do not add you to a mailing list because you wrote to me.
If you subscribe to the newsletter, you give me an email address so I can send the notes I said I would send. That address is stored by the email service I use to send those letters. You can unsubscribe from any email, and I will not keep writing to you after that.
What gets collected in the background
Like most sites, this one uses cookies. A cookie is a small file your browser keeps so the site can remember something, for example that you are logged in, or that you closed a notice. WordPress.com also writes server logs: things like your IP address, browser type, and which page you opened. That is how the host keeps the site online and spots abuse. Their own explanation lives in the Automattic privacy policy.
I do not run a separate advertising profile on you, and I do not sell personal information. I don’t buy lists. If a stats tool is switched on through WordPress.com, it shows me totals, such as how many people read a post. It is not a file with your name on it.
Embedded posts and Pinterest
Some posts include photos, pins, or videos that live on another service, such as Pinterest, Instagram, or YouTube. Those services can see that you loaded the page, and they may set their own cookies if you play a video or use a button of theirs. Their policies govern that part, not mine. The Save button on an image opens Pinterest only when you choose it. I do not load Pinterest’s tracking script on every page.
Affiliate links
Some posts recommend something I use and link to a shop. If you buy through that link I may earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you. The shop, not me, sees your purchase. I see, at most, that a sale happened. I mark those links, and there is a separate disclosure page if you want the short version.
How long I keep it
Comments stay on the post unless you ask me to remove yours or I take one down. Newsletter addresses stay with the email service until you unsubscribe or I delete the list. Messages you send through the contact page stay in my inbox until I no longer need them. Server logs are kept by WordPress.com on their schedule.
Who else sees it
I share personal information only with the services that make the site function: WordPress.com for hosting, an email service if you subscribe, and a shop only if you choose to follow an affiliate link. I will also share information if the law requires it. I do not hand your details to advertisers.
Your choices
You can ask me what I have, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete a comment or a message. Use the contact page. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter in one click. You can also block cookies in your browser. The site will still load. A few convenience features, such as staying logged in, will not.
Children
Body & Rhythm is written for adults. I do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent me personal information, tell me and I will delete it.
Changes
If I change this policy in a way that matters, I will update the date at the top. The version on this page is the one that applies.
